CAST OF CHARACTERS
The Cast at Length, by Marik (spoiler- tastic)
Good Guys/Bad Guys/Just... Guys
Sandra/Jack/Crystal/Tomie/Sam/Wally
If you're wondering what (most of) these mooks look like in color, click their pictures for color jobs courtesy of the uber-talented Elevenbane, AKA Mari Rose, site here. These were done independently, so I might picture them slightly different, but they should give you a fair idea. So go on. Have fun. Ya mooks.
Sandra
The star of our show, the main attraction, Zebra Girl (A.K.A. Sandra)! Transformed into a demon by an explosion of random magical energy, Sandra must search for her purpose in a world which would undoubtedly scorn her. Eat your heart out Stan Lee. Indeed, what few glimpses the world has had of her have evolved into local legend in the town of Miscellaneous, which of course does little to soothe Sandra's fear of exposure. But despite the loneliness she feels, Sandra's strength of will has kept her from wallowing in self pity most of the time. She's even managed to develop a very modest sense of humor about it, as evidenced by the name of her tech-support service and the "journal" she puts up on her site. Still slightly hot-tempered, Sandra's favorite hobby is igniting Jack with her pyrokinetic powers. This should not imply that the two of them are necessarily enemies, but rather that they are friends who have become comfortable with their friendship existing in the ways in which they aggravate each other. More than that, since through it all Sandra and her housemates have become more than friends. Owing simply to her mature personality, Sandra is essentially the de facto head of the household, though not in any overt fashion.

Goal in life: To become human and get a real one.

Jack
Once, Jack was merely this webcomic's standard-issue hapless, goofy slacker good guy. He wandered through life carefree, from one zany scheme to another with his equally unfocused sister, Crystal. But in finding Tomie they found the zany scheme to end all zany schemes. Jack was responsible for the magical accident which made Sandra what she is today, and that responsibility was just the first of many which he must now constantly consider. In the course of his adventures Jack has become a fully-fledged wizard ("The Plaid," as these things go), a professional agent of change seeking to bring magic back into the world and back out of one girl's life. Such is irony, that by way of farting around this goofy pervert has attained both wisdom and purpose. ...With occasional farting around, still.

Goal in life: To keep promises.

Crystal
Childlike and innocent(ish), Crystal is Jack's twin sister and currently the only hope Sandra has for a best friend any time in the near future. They've been together since Kindergarten, and have a very "big sister/little sister" dynamic (Sandra being the big one, obviously). As is often the way, they complement each other with their differences. Ever the optimist, Crystal provides a sharp and perhaps needed counterbalance to Sandra's depressed cynicism, as well as a distraction when her naivete brings out Sandra's protective instincts. Despite being supportive and understanding, she nonetheless somehow maintains a job as a telemarketer. Eerie.
(Note - currently experiencing a "Goth" phase. Or trying to, anyway.)

Goal in life: To spread sunshine and joy to those who may need it. How she and Jack could have possibly grown up side by side is anyone's guess.

Tomie
The magic book which changed Sandra, Tomie is a mysterious and quite sentient device of unknown origins. When discovered in the attic he became mentally bonded with Jack, probably because he was the first person he'd seen in God-knows-how-long and didn't know Jack beforehand. Tomie seems straightforward and only mildly condescending, as well as intelligent. Strangely, he and Jack have formed a rather endearing friendship. Sort of a Chris and Boardy type thing. Well, exactly a Chris and Boardy type thing, I guess. This is rather a source of concern for Tomie, since he's not exactly sure how he'll manage without Jack now that they've become so attached.

Goal in life: Currently, to score with the porno mags under Jack's bed. Okay, maybe they're not so different after all.

Sam
Oooy... where to begin. Sam Sprinkles is a disgruntled cartoon character from another universe. And, he's Sandra. If you want to know more beyond that, read the archives. From the beginning. Yeah, I drew it for you to see, I'm not gonna give it all away here. Moving on to character... Sam is quite a bit rough edged, but a fair man when all is said and done, and also quite wise in some respects. He's quite eerily canny in regards to plot twists and story dynamics... comes from living a cartoon for so long, apparently. He's also somewhat less reserved than Sandra is, with obvious implications. He just doesn't feel the need to hide. This may be a holdover from his near-suicidal depression days, a subconscious repression of his natural instincts to survive. I dunno. Do you care? He doesn't. Just as Jack is the slacker, Sam is this webcomic's mandatory pissed-off lagomorph, or Devilbunny, as I call them. I'm serious, this theme's been freaking done to death. But did that stop me? Of course not. So here he is.

Goal in life: To find his place in this world, in this universe, and in and of himself. ...Yeah, that sounds good.

Wally
Wally's a good kid. He's a good dog, too. Or so his girlfriend Crystal would say. He's a good werewolf. At least in terms of morality. In terms of being a werewolf, well, things didn't work out too well. You've heard of the "Alpha Wolf," right? Well, there's an Omega too. And that's what Wally had to live with while in the company of wolves. Presumably, he'd left humanity behind long ago to live a life free of worry, but it didn't turn out all as good as he'd hoped and now he's giving the World of Man another honest stab. And, frankly, he's in a little over his head. He's been living like an animal most of the time for who knows how long, for gadsakes. But there is a particular up side to that, as the naivete he has due to lack of experience makes him especially compatible with Crystal, who's naive just naturally. There is no condescension in their relationship, only the devotion of young love and maybe, as an only slightly disturbing thought, of a dog for its master. They make such a cute couple. ...Too cute, really.

Goal in life: First, he needs to get one. Not to imply that he's a loser, mind, he's just starting out and a little lost.
